Reproduction in Animals(2025-2026)

Vocabulary: gametes, viviparous, oviparous, ovoviviparous

Most animals reproduce sexually.

Remember the first feature of sexual reproduction is that it involves 2 organisms. 

So, just like a sports team, what does each "team member" have to do?  What does each member provide or bring to the "game"?

I would add that the "sex cells" that the YouTuber mentions in this video can also be called      "gametes( pronounced 'gah - meets' ).

Gametes are what each of the two organisms involved in sexual reproduction must "bring to the game".

Reproduction in plants(2025-2026)

Vocabulary: cutting, layering, bulbs, tubers, pollination, fertilization, fructification, germination, flowering

We move from how microscopic organisms reproduce to how macroscopic organisms reproduce.

"Macroscopic" means we can see it without a microscope.  The first macroscopic organisms whose reproduction we will study are plants.

I like the video below for its mention of pollination methods and the importance of pollinators.  I will correct it on the use of one word:  We call the female part of the flower a "PISTIL", not "carpel", which is what this particular video uses.
