pH - Acids and Bases(2025-2026)

 Vocabulary:  Acid, base, litmus

Being an acid or a base is another property of Matter we will study.

You should be able to recognize acids and bases from certain features that acids have and certain features that bases have.

Separating Mixtures(2025-2026)

Vocabulary:  Filtration, distillation, decantation

Because the parts of a mixture are mixed together or "joined" physically, we can separate the parts of a mixture from each other easily.

We use unique properties of one of the parts of a mixture that is different from the other parts of the mixture.

Example:  We can remove paperclips from a mixture of paperclips and paper punches by using a magnet; the paperclips are magnetic and the paper punches are not.
